Andrew M. Freeman, MD, FACC, FACP brings nearly two decades of experience in preventive and clinical cardiology to Cardiovascular Institute of the Rockies. He joins the practice following a distinguished career at National Jewish Health in Denver, CO, where he served as Director of Cardiovascular Prevention and Wellness, Director of Clinical Cardiology and Operations, and Co-Director of Nuclear Cardiology, and where he was promoted to Professor of Medicine in 2024. Dr. Freeman completed his internal medicine training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and his General Cardiology Fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He earned his medical degree with Research Honors from SUNY Buffalo, after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Cornell University.
Dr. Freeman is a nationally recognized leader in lifestyle medicine and cardiovascular disease prevention, with a particular focus on the role nutrition and exercise play in preventing and reversing heart disease. He started and formerly hosted monthly Walk with a Doc program in the Denver area, volunteering his Saturday mornings to walk with patients while teaching key health concepts and promoting exercise as medicine. He has held numerous leadership roles within the American College of Cardiology at both the state and national level, including founding chair of its Lifestyle and Nutrition Workgroup and service on its Science and Quality Committee, Digital Steering Committee, and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Council, among others.
